Maitake Support for Normal Cell Growth
Host Defense Maitake from Fungi Perfecti is a dietary supplement that provides support for normal cell growth.
Also known as hen of the woods, Maitake (Grifola frondosa) mushrooms are a flattened, stemless mushroom, woody in texture, and used in traditional Chinese medicine because of for their reputed immune-stimulant properties.
Maitake are rich in beta-D glucans, or sugars found in the cell walls of fungi, as well as bacteria, yeasts, algae, lichens, and such plants as oats and barley.
Beta glucans may help lower blood cholesterol by inhibiting its absorption. They might also help stimulate the immune system by increasing chemicals that lessen the risk of infections.
Maitake mushrooms are a rich source of Vitamin D, an essential vitamin vital for calcium and phosphorous absorption in the bloodstream and skeletal structures.
The mushrooms also contain Niacin, a B-complex vitamin that plays a part in such processes as blood-sugar stabilization, sex hormone production, and maintaining nerve function.
They also contain folates, which help transform carbohydrates to glucose, maintain nerve function, and produce blood cells.
Usually classed as a B vitamin, choline is another ingredient and is needed to break down fat for energy and retain the structural integrity of cell membranes. This micronutrient is involved in nerve signaling and required for kidney, vascular, and liver health.
Maitake mushrooms also contain some important trace minerals, including copper, phosphorus, selenium, and potassium.
Phosphorus and copper are needed for bone and tooth formation, and make up tissue in all organs from the brain to the kidneys.
An antioxidant, selenium helps build red blood cells and promotes the production of antibodies.
Potassium, which our body requires to make tissues, nerves and proteins, also helps regulate blood pressure and heart contractions.
Each Host Defense Maitake capsule contains 500mg of freeze-dried maitake mycelium.
