The methylation process is dependent on specific nutrients for optimal function. The Methyl-Guard Plus® formula contains higher amounts of its ingredients than the original formula. This supplement includes the following to support normal methylation:
- 5-MTHF (methyl-tetrahydrofolate) - the active, more readily utilized form of folate. Folate is crucial for normal, healthy methylation and homocysteine regulation.
- B-12 methylcobalamin - the active form of B12. This vitamin is an important co-factor in the methylation process.
- Riboflavin 5-phosphate - active vitamin B2, may support homocysteine metabolism and methylation
- Contains NO: wheat, gluten, corn, yeast, soy, egg, dairy products, or artificial colors, sweeteners, or flavors

- Betaine Anhydrous (Trimethylglycine) 1.8g
Other Ingredients: hypromellose (derived from cellulose) capsule, calcium citrate, calcium laurate.

5-methyl-tetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF) supplementation is not recommended concurrently with methotrexate cancer therapy, as it can interfere with methotrexate's anti-neoplastic activity; however, 5-MTHF has not been shown to interfere with the anti-inflammatory activity of methotrexate. An individual taking methotrexate for psoriasis or rheumatoid arthritis can safely take a supplement containing folate.
