Inulin - Supporting a Healthy Colon

Now Foods Organic Inulin powder is a prebiotic, or food source, that helps stimulate the growth of friendly and healthy intestinal bacteria that support good colon health.

A water-soluble dietary fiber, Inulin is also a fructooligosaccharide (FOS), which are increasing in popularity as a prebiotic fiber that may have helpful intestinal benefits.

We cannot digest prebiotics, which act as food for probiotics, or good bacteria in our intestines. Combining probiotics and prebiotics forms a symbiotic, such as yogurt, which contain live bacteria and the fuel they need to thrive.

Prebiotics are stable and remain active after cooking, so it is easy to add them to your diet.

And Fructooligosaccharide, such as inulin, can also be used as an alternative sweetener. As it has a very low glycemic index, it is suitable for many people who are on restricted diets.

So you can add it to your favorite beverage or food. Its taste is comparable to sugar and can be used as a sugar replacement.

And probiotics, or the good bacteria in our body, may help with

  • Diarrhea
  • Vaginal yeast infections
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Intestinal infections
  • Eczema in children
  • Colds and flu

    Inulin Source

NOW says that the source of the inulin is blue agave. I was going to use it as a sweetener, but I'm going to pass now because I avoid agave syrup (and I've read that this inulin is made from the syrup). I'd rather use inulin made from chicory.
