    Better sleep

    I take 2 capsules 30 minutes before I go to bed. I don't feel groggy in the morning like I did with melatonin. I feel like I get better sleep. If I do wake up at night I can fall asleep right away. I also find that I have better moods and stamina during the day.

    I've used this product for years

    I use this product before bedtime. I find that the recommended 3 capsule dose to sleep is too much so I only take 2 500mg caps. This helps me to fall asleep and sleep soundly. I can even get up to use the restroom in the middle of the night then return to bed and quickly fall back asleep again. L-tryptophan is a seratonin precursor. It will convert completely to seratonin in your brain unless you're niacin levels are low, then it will convert partially to niacin to satisfy your niacin deficiency and then the remainder will convert to seratonin. I would recommend raising your niacin levels by adding a small dose of the very inexpensive niacin to your vitamin regimen so as not to waste your tryptophan. I used to use apple juice to take my tryptophan before bed. The sugar in the fruit juice helps the tryptophan to jump the blood/brain barrier and enter the brain more efficiently. I used fruit juice for a few years but now that my brain is accustomed to the nightly dose, so I just take it with water. L-tryptophan is completely water soluble. By the time I'm out of the shower and have brushed my teeth in the morning, there are absolutely no side effects and I've enjoyed a good night's sleep. Occasionally, when I suffer from anxiety, I'll take 1 or 2 during the day to find some relief. Couldn't recommend this product more, especially for those who suffer from anxiety and insomnia related to anxiety! If you are already taking a doctor prescribed SSRI medication for anxiety or depression, I would strongly recommend NOT to combine it with L-tryptophan. Ask your doctor! Be warned, your doctor may or may not be receptive to replacing your SSRI antidepressant medication with a much healthier vitamin regimen that includes L-tryptophan. That will more than likely depend on how cozy your doctor's relationship is with his pharmaceutical representatives/suppliers.

    I would always buy this product

    I take 3 tryptophan at bedtime to sleep. It really gives me a good, sound sleep. It helps put serotonin in your brain so you can sleep. Only thing is you need 3 capsules to sleep instead of one so it is not so cost effective. A little hard to swallow because they are big capsules. Must swallow one at a time. Otherwise a great product. I got off my sleeping pill which was affecting my memory. No side affects with tryptophan.
