Similase BV Bean & Vegetable Digestive Enzymes

Take enzymes about 5 minutes after finishing a meal. Only needed when eating cooked food. Reduces gurgling in the gut. Note, for those over 50 years old, take Betain HCL during the meal. The combination of enzymes after the meal and Betain HCL during the meal eliminate reflux and gut disturbances. The above does not apply for those on PPI's.

I have had IBS like symptoms since I was 16. The problem has become worse as I age (I am now 61). I have been diagnosed as having pancreatic insufficiency, and have had a few bouts of pancreatitis. I also had my gall bladder removed. I cannot digest high fat meals and vegetables give me a great deal of discomfort and gas. One capsule with each meal solves all of these problems. Very effective product. While meeting with the U of M nutritionist following a bout of pancreatitis, she looked at the label and said this was 'prescription strength' and is the same as what they would prescribe.

I started using this product at least 6 months ago and found it was very helpful in reducing the amount of gas that I was experiencing. I only needed to take 2 capsules before breakfast in order to experience relief. At some point I started to experience abnormal symptoms after eating, regardless of when I ate ,what I ate and how much I ate. I would liken the symptoms to being mildly drunk: foggy brain, mildly uncoordinated. I tried going gluten free and using a glucometer but with no relief and no significant results. I decided to eliminate supplements one at a time starting with the Similase BV. The following day my post eating symptoms were gone and have been now for 2 weeks since eliminating Similase BV. So while it was beneficial for reducing gas it had an adverse effect on my system, so I won't be taking it again.
