Raise QI Bu Zhong Yi Qi Wan from Health Concerns is a traditional formula that addresses deficiency of the spleen and stomach leading to sinking of the yang. Many of the symptoms addressed by this formula are due to cold. Astragalus (huang qi) raises the yang qi, especially in combination with cimicifuga (sheng ma) and bupleurum (chai hu). Ginseng (ren shen), atractylodes (bai zhu), and baked licorice (zhi gan cao) strengthen the spleen. Dong Quai (dang gui) tonifies both the Qi and blood. Tangerine (chen pi) helps the digestion of the tonic herbs.
