Magnesium and calcium are the most abundant minerals in our bodies, making up 2% of our total body weight. These minerals are involved in the transmission of nerve impulses, muscle contraction (including the heart muscle), blood clotting, reducing cholesterol, enhancing the immune system, maintaining strong bones and teeth, and proper sleep.

Magnesium and other trace minerals may enhance muscle recovery after exercise. In fact, magnesium plays a central role in controlling muscle tone.
