Dietary Supplement for Healthy Collagen Production

Collagen Forte from Douglas Laboratories provides potent levels of vitamin C, l-lysine, and l-proline to help support healthy collagen synthesis.

Collagen is a type of protein that provides the structural scaffolding for your body's connective tissues, cells, and organs. Your body uses it to produce such connective tissues as skin, ligaments, and cartilage.

To manufacture collagen, which makes up around 75 percent of your skin and 30 percent of your body overall, your body requires vitamin C, lysine, and proline. These ingredients may combine to help form procollagen, from which various forms of collagen are produced in your body.

    This formula contains

    • Vitamin C, to help produce the building materials for collagen
    • L-lysine, to help with collagen cross-linking and blocking enzymes that break down collagen
    • L-proline, a precursor of hydroxyproline, which your body use produce collagen

Vitamin C Critical for Collagen Production

Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, plays a role in numerous biological functions.

It is critical for the synthesis of collagen and glycosaminoglycans, which are the building materials of such connective tissues as skin, blood vessels, tendons, joint cartilage, and bone.

It is also a required coenzyme for enzymes that catalyze the crosslinking of collagen fibers: lysyl hydroxylases and prolyl hydroxylases.

So, vitamin C plays a critical role in normal wound healing and capillary health and collagen cross-linking.

Collagen cross-linking boosts the resiliency and elasticity of the collagen and elastin found in all connective tissues and blood vessel walls.

    Suggested Use

To use as a dietary supplement, adults can take five capsules a day, with meals or as directed by a healthcare professional.

    This did the trick!

Did some study on things that could possibly reduce my cholesterol. Came upon a study done in Europe (I believe) that used Niacin, high doses of Vit. C, L-proline, L-lysine to reduce peoples cholesterol levels. I'm not able to take Niacin, but after discussing it w/my PCP, we decided it was a safething to try. Dosage was 5 capsules/day. But, being capsules they were easy to swallow. I divided it up and took 3 first thing in the morning, and 2 at lunch time. Bottle contains 300 capsules, so it was a two month supply and the capsules weren't filled w/a bunch of fillers and extra junk. At the end of two months I had my blood work checked again, and all my levels had come down w/i the normal ranges!

    Good Stuff

I take 3-4 /day and I feel my symptoms under control - if not I take more. Capsules are great even if I have to take more than one. Also, I would swear that this stuff makes my nails grown and hard too - nothing else does! The collagen support for the skin too.
